We want to introduce you to a little girl in San Pedro Sula, Honduras; her name is Cynthia and she is 8 years old. We met her in February and at the time, she had no shoes, no schooling, and her family had very little food. She is the first child we have started to sponsor. When we met her, we asked her, “what does she want/need?” Although she has never had one, she did not ask for a baby doll or some new shoes. She said that she wanted to study in school. She could not go to school because she did not have money to buy the required uniforms, school supplies, or bus transportation. Since that day we have sponsored her to go to school and have helped her family with their expenses for food. Her life has been turned around! For her family, this is nothing short of a miracle…and yet it is only the beginning for them! Here is a letter she wrote for us translated from Spanish:

To: The brothers and for Brother Douglas
From: Cynthia Yadira Salvador

Hello! How are you Brother Douglas? I hope you are happy, in good health, and enjoying the blessings of God that are overflowing in your life. My greatest desire is that God will bless you always.
Brother Douglas, we are first grateful to God and then to you for being such a beautiful person and for assisting me with what I need.
Thank God for putting you in our life as an angel.
I want to let you know previous days my mom was very worried and she was asking God to help her.
But God is faithful and He never withholds blessing from us.
He responded to me and I give thanks to God for being so beautiful.
Brother Douglas, my mom cried with joy when you arrived to our house and she would not stop thanking God because she and my father are the only ones that take care of me. My father is old and only provides for us sometimes. Thank you for the food Brother Douglas because the one who gives to the poor gives to God. Thank you Brother Douglas. Thanks to God and you, I have what I need. My brother, Angel, is also very grateful. I pray that God would care for you and prosper you more and more. Thank you, thank you very much.
“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25
