MEET MARIA:

She is a student at Eagles Academy in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Maria has been given a special gift most children in Honduras are not fortunate enough to have: an education.  She is in fourth grade and has been a faithful attendee.  Maria’s dad is 65 years old and struggles to find work. He sells things here-and-there but struggles to keep up with her tuition. Her mom is also unable to work and suffers from severe depression. In order to keep Maria in school, the family must pay for half of 2013 and all of 2014 tuition, totaling $1426, which incudes expenses that pay the teacher’s salaries.

Eagles Academy is a beacon of hope in the country of Honduras. It offers children a way to break the cycle of poverty within their family through education. Not only that, but Eagles Academy provides a solid Christian foundation for its students.  In certain instances they can float the outstanding expenses, but only for a limited time.  Thankfully, Alive2Love and its partners work hand-in-hand with the school’s administrator to meet the needs of the children and keep the school running.

In December 2013, the Alive2Love Mission’s team got to pay the kids a visit and give the school a makeover: two brand new classrooms were built and the inside and outside of the school was given a fresh coat of paint!  Many of you were a part of helping us that day…The kids put on a Christmas performance for us which brought tears to our eyes and left memories in our hearts; it was a special moment!

There are still many children like Maria who are in need of school sponsorship! If this is something you’d like to be a part of, email us at [email protected] for more information.
